Makeup artist Dee Carrion, known for work with Doja Cat and Doechii, built the shimmery look around what Smith calls her 'third eye chakra' color.

Willow Smith performed at New York's Sony Hall this month in a lavender-washed eye look created by makeup artist Dee Carrion, built around Dior eye products and paired with brown feline liner, in support of her eighth solo album, The Thread, according to Who What Wear.

Smith told the outlet she chose purple because it's "the color of the third eye chakra," and said her approach to stage makeup has shifted over the years. "I used to just not wear makeup on stage, like, ever," she said, adding that she now feels it "adds to the energy."

Carrion, who has also done makeup for Doja Cat, Doechii and Ayo Edebiri, said she leaned on "a lot of shimmers, sparkle, soft pastels, and washes of color" to match the album's ethereal tone.

Smith said her mother was an early influence on her comfort with experimenting with beauty looks, recalling watching her do her makeup growing up.
