The makeup and hair design in the film Verity was built to hint at its central mystery, according to Allure. Makeup department head Andrea Miller said Anne Hathaway's character was given consistently matte red lips, executed by Hathaway's personal makeup artist Kyra Panchenko, with inspiration drawn from an all-white suit and later red dresses designed by costume designer Jacqueline Demeterio, as well as Old Hollywood glamour.
Hathaway's character also wears a side-parted, voluminous wig in a lob style matching her natural hair color, created by personal hairstylist Frída Aradóttir, a deliberate departure from the blonde hair described in Colleen Hoover's source novel. Hair department head Robert Lugo said the simple style was meant to track the character's transformation through the story.
