Three nail artists told Who What Wear that several manicure trends popular over the summer are losing favor as the weather cools. Max Estrada, founder of Exclusive Nail Couture, said fluorescent neon shades are giving way to "deep plum, black cherry, espresso, jewel tones" and cat-eye effects, while Prosto Nails & Co founder Kateryna Tsabilieva said she's steering clients toward blackberry or inky blue for a bolder fall look.

Thick, oversized French tips are also fading, according to Vikki Swan, founder of Vikki Swan Nail Academy, who said clients are increasingly asking for "micro-French tips with thin, delicate lines" instead. Tsabilieva added that a wide white tip can make a short nail bed look even shorter, and recommended a finer line or an espresso-toned tip as an alternative. Chunky glitter is losing ground too, with Swan saying finer shimmer and subtle metallic finishes are replacing "large glitter particles covering the entire nail."
