Maggie Gyllenhaal wore the 'dolce vita bob' at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, a retro, voluminous style that stylists are pointing to as the season's next bob trend, according to Elle. Singer-songwriter Raye and Pamela Anderson have also worn versions of the look, which builds on last year's viral 'old money bob' but with a longer length and fuller shape.
'This longer bob length shape shares the same luxurious and glamorous texture of the old money bob, but with extra volume and a more cushioned, weightless finish,' said trend forecaster and hair expert Tom Smith. He said the cut suits people with thick hair, or those who want the illusion of it, since the long, soft layers add movement to finer hair while managing bulk on thicker strands. Smith said the style is easiest to achieve on naturally wavy or curly hair, but can also be created on straight hair with heated rollers or a curling wand, such as the Dyson Airwrap with curl attachments, finished with hairspray and a smoothing cream.
