Celebrity stylist Jason Bolden said his career began by accident in 2011, when his friend Gabrielle Union called asking him to bring her outfit options for Art Basel, according to the Who What Wear Podcast. He brought her a vintage Lanvin dress; from there, his client list grew to include Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo and Michael B. Jordan.

Before that call, Bolden said he'd been running a vintage shop called the Garment Room in SoHo after spending time thrifting in Chicago, where he could fill an entire shopping bag for $25, and later working on design-inspiration suites for brands including Akris and Ralph Lauren. "It took a while for a lot of people to recognize the body of work and the point of view," he said of building credibility in the industry. The interview is part of Who What Wear's 20th-anniversary series spotlighting tastemakers who've shaped fashion and beauty since the outlet launched.
