The celebrity stylist says this season's shapes — from sculpted bobs to afros — lean into natural texture rather than fighting it.

Celebrity hairstylist and Dippity-Do hair expert Brendnetta Ashley says autumn 2026's trending cuts share one thread: they put natural shape and texture front and center rather than smoothing it away, according to Who What Wear. The lineup spans sculpted curly bobs, soft shags, curly pixies, long face-framing layers, curly micro fringes, bixies and afros.

For the sculpted curly bob, Ashley recommends starting on damp hair with a moisturizing curl cream, then adding a mousse to define curls, keeping manipulation minimal while diffusing and drying hair fully. For the soft shag, she says to apply a curl-enhancing mousse first, then separate curl clumps with cream once hair is completely dry — using less product on wavy textures to avoid weighing hair down.

Ashley describes the curly pixie as built on definition and hold, styled with light-hold gel on damp hair and a pic comb used at the roots once dry for added volume. The curly micro fringe, which she calls "an edgy, fashion-forward statement," is styled with light-hold gel worked through damp hair to shape each curl individually.

For afros, Ashley says the foundation is hydration: a gentle shampoo followed by a nourishing conditioner to soften hair and ease detangling before shaping into what she calls a "beautifully shaped, touchable" rounded bob.
