Dior spent four years restoring 13 of its heritage fragrances for a new collection called Diororiginals, led by perfume creation director Francis Kurkdjian, according to Harper's Bazaar. The collection includes Diorling, Diorissimo, Jules, Higher, Higher Energy, Diorama, Dune, Diorella, Eau Fraiche, Dune Pour Homme, Dioressence, Forever and Ever, and Dolce Vita, housed in vintage-inspired glass bottles.
Kurkdjian said the goal was to preserve each scent's original character rather than modernize it, even while swapping in allergen-safe synthetics and eco-friendly raw materials required by current regulations. "The question was not to make them modern even though there's modern ingredients, it's to make them feel old," he told Bazaar, describing the work as "the opposite of a facelift." Some formulas, like 1955's Eau Fraiche and 1963's Diorling, needed to be "totally reshaped," while others required only minor tweaks.
